Kelp

Some species of kelp, a plant classified as an Algae, are the fasted growing plants in the world.  Giant Kelp, Macrocystis pyrifera, is reported to grow up to two feet a day in ideal conditions.  In British Columbia, giant forests of Bull Kelp, Nereocystis luetkeana, are an iconic scene, both from the surface and underwater.
