Steller Sea Lions, Eumetopias jubatus
These large marine mammals are an impressive animal to see, on land or underwater. They are the third largest of all the pinnipeds. British Columbia has several places where these animals give birth, called rookeries. Steller Sea Lions were once hunted and their numbers were very low. They are now protected but are still listed as a species of Special Concern.
