Like a flower garden underwater, anemones come in a palette of dazzling colours and form.
Very prominant in cold water, different species of anemone make up a large percentage of the invertebrate life. From tiny Strawberry Anemone half and inch across, to the Giant Plumose Anemone that grow up to 3 feet tall. In the tropics they tend to give way to more corals and sponges etc. The classic view of an anemone is with an associated clownfish dwelling in its sticky tentacles. This is a tropical water phenomenon. In cold water there are several species of shrimp and some young fish that the anemones play host to in a commensal type relationship.
